"If Time Travel Was Real: My First Adventure to Ancient Egypt"

Ancient Egypt is a mysterious place with buildings and murals whose existence has yet to be fully discovered. For example, the 137m Great Pyramid of Giza was built using an estimated 2.3 million large blocks of limestone, each weighing around 2.5 tons on average, with some granite blocks in the chambers reaching up to 80 tons. With limited technology, how could these ancient people construct such a marvel in just 15–27 years (Lesso, 2024)? Was there a hidden force, perhaps giants, assisting them? Furthermore, the ancient Egyptian murals with strange human-animal hybrids—were these merely artistic expressions, or did such beings actually exist? My curiosity overwhelmed me, and I decided to travel back to around 4300–3000 BCE, during the Predynastic period of Ancient Egypt, to uncover the truth.

As I activated the time-travel device, the world around me twisted and blurred. When I finally regained my bearings, I found myself in an untouched wilderness, surrounded by trees and wild animals. The air smelled raw and earthy; I had never been so close to nature before. In this era, nature was far more dominant, and I was just another creature in its vast ecosystem. Panic surged through me—I could be attacked at any moment. But I had come prepared. Pulling out the silicon ibis mask I had designed based on what I had seen in Egyptian murals online, I carefully put it on, blending into my surroundings. It seemed to work; the animals barely took notice of me, perhaps fooled by my disguise.

As dawn broke, I heard the sound of people moving through the trees. Hunters. Their voices were filled with excitement as they closed in on my location. To my horror, I realized they saw me as a new type of animal—one they believed might hold miraculous healing properties if consumed. Panic gripped me. If I was captured, I would not live long enough to uncover the secrets I had come for.

Thinking quickly, I knew I had to prove my worth before they could turn me into their next meal. Instead of fleeing, I presented them with knowledge, showing them improved agricultural techniques, irrigation methods, and ways to cultivate crops more effectively. They were astonished, their suspicion turning into curiosity. Instead of seeing me as prey, they now saw me as someone with great wisdom.

Soon, they brought me before the Pharaoh. As I walked through the city, I noticed people staring at me in awe and whispering among themselves. But something even more astonishing caught my eye—giant figures moving enormous stones with effortless ease. My heart raced; the long-debated mystery was answered before my very eyes. The pyramids were indeed being built with the help of these towering beings.

Upon meeting the Pharaoh, I was eager to prove I was not a threat. I began teaching them the mathematical concepts I had learned in school—decimals, simple geometry, and algebra. The court was amazed, and before I knew it, I was being treated as a divine figure. They believed I was sent by the gods to bring them knowledge.

As time passed, my influence grew. People started mimicking my behaviour, dressing like me, and following my teachings. Though the admiration was overwhelming, I knew I had to return to my own time before I altered history too much.

With a heavy heart, I activated the dial and was pulled back to my own era. Excited to see if history had changed, I visited a museum displaying Egyptian artefacts. As I wandered through the halls, my breath caught in my throat. There, on an ancient mural, was my own likeness—painted with divine reverence, standing among gods and rulers. But then, a deeper thought crept into my mind: does history truly change if no one remembers the original version? If my presence had been recorded for thousands of years, was I the anomaly, or was I fulfilling a destiny already written? My heart pounded as realization set in. I had not just visited history—I had become part of it.
